Day 19 Tuesday 28th Sept – Almaty to Shymkent (Kazakhstan) 734km
Day 18 Monday 27th Sept – Almaty (Kazakhstan) 2nd REST DAY
Today is the second and final rest day in Almaty. It seems that some of the teams are using the time to catch up to the group. The window for catching up is closing quickly as crossing borders on trucks will get more difficult and become impossible as the group crosses from Turkmenistan to Iran in just 8 days. >read the official report for day 18 >check out the rally’s official video journal I had some trouble getting the videos to load and play smoothly. Day 17 Sunday 26th Sept – Almaty (Kazakhstan) REST DAY!
Fritz and Lang spent 11 hours in the repair shop today along with many other cars (we think most of it was waiting in line). Lang described it as “Quite a circus!” They have 2 days in Almaty to rest up and repair the car before continuing on. Following is some photographic evidence that Fritz and Lang made it to Almaty. I think that might even be Fritz looking under the hood. Thanks to Simon and Rupert for taking this photo. Check them out at: http://www.pekingparismodela.com/home.html Proof... (more...)
Day 16 Saturday 25th Sept – Usharal to Almaty (Kazakhstan) 552 km

I sent new graphics for their car that read, “Rally for Literacy www.ala.org/olos“. I also sent them a few treats (Cliff Bars, Mentos and some trading cards with a picture of their car and some information about the blog and their literacy cause on the back.) Today’s... (more...)
Day 15 Friday 24th Sept – Semey to Usharal (Kazakhstan) 581 km
According to the schedule Lang gave me before they left, tonight is the final night of camping. Fritz and Lang called yesterday to request a new fuel pump that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Sounds like all is still well. We were able to procure the pump and it’s shipping out today bound for Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Fritz and Lang have fallen back to 49th place with a time of 22 hours and 35 minutes. Total time for the rally is 142 hours, 57 minutes and 48 seconds. Still ranked... (more...)
